I am so excited to finally say these words:
The Black Autistic Dinosaur is HERE!
This book has been a labor of love: for my son, and for so many families like ours.
My son LOVES dinosaurs; and honestly, that’s part of his magic. That’s how he communicates. That’s how he feels brave!
So naturally, we’ve collected tons of dinosaur books over the years. But one thing kept bothering me…none of them looked like him.
None of them showed Black kids.
None of them reflected autism.
None of them captured his joy, his skin, his quirks, his brilliance.
I searched high and low for a dinosaur book that featured melanated characters that spoke to neurodivergent kids. That felt like us. But I couldn’t find one.
So… I created it.

Why I Wrote This Book:
I wrote The Black Autistic Dinosaur so my son could finally see himself in a story.
So he could open a book and feel seen: fully, joyfully, and without apology. So other black autistic children could feel the same.
Because representation matters.
Because autism isn’t one-size-fits-all. Because our kids deserve to be the heroes in the stories they love especially when dinosaurs are involved.
About the Book:
The Black Autistic Dinosaur is a paperback designed for ages 4–8.
It’s a short, sweet, powerful read that celebrates difference, confidence, and the magic of being yourself even when that self roars a little louder than others expect. 🦖💛
For non-speaking kids or children with limited words, I hope this book offers something deeper:
Hope.
Belonging.
A moment of joy.
Even if they don’t say it out loud, I hope they feel it.
